Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics

Nutrition department is capable of reducing patient expenses, by ensuring lesser days of stay in hospital, thus reducing chances of nosocomial infections to a great extent. For hospitals, it ensures that ALOS is brought down, which is a major quality indicator.

Over the years, modern Science and Medicine has suggested that Nutrition & Dietetics plays a very crucial role in the recovery of a hospitalized person. It aids to a faster recovery of a convalescing patient after surgical or medical management is executed.

A Clinical Nutritionist does an accurate therapeutic nutritional analysis of the patient to target the nutritional deficiency which may have been caused because of illness or trauma and then prescribes a customized nutritionally balanced diet to help in the speedy recovery of the patient.

A Clinical Nutritionist also counsels and motivates healthy people to have lifestyle issues such as Obesity or Underweight or even Malnutrition by prescribing diet as per the BMI index Sex Age and Height.

To provide adequate and appropriate nutrition to the patients.

To assess food intake of patients and to motive them to eat healthy.

To disseminate the nutrition knowledge to the patients through discussions, lectures and diet charts.

Scope: Clinical Nutrition Department deals with major 2 areas.

IPD Nutrition & Diet Management in Nepal Mediciti includes daily visit to all wards including ICU's, CCU in order to access the nutrition requirements, intake and then close the gap if any, so as to ensure faster recovery. This helps to reduce number of days of stay in ICU and also in hospital.

For ICU/CCU patients, especially NIL BY MOUTH, ensuring the appropriate density and consistency of food offered to patients.

OPD Nutrition & Diet Management in Nepal Mediciti includes 1 on 1 Therapeutic Diet Counselling, solve all diet related queries, Customized Diet plans & also provides Body composition analysis chart which helps in weight management.

Onco Day Care: Daily rounds in Onco day care to give Diet counselling to Onco patients as per their specific needs and challenges to overcome nutritional deficiencies.
