Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology

Department of Paediatics and Neonatology is comprised of team of expertise available 24 X 7

Nepal Mediciti Hospital boasts a comprehensive team of highly trained, experienced specialists providing round the clock service to the newborns and children up to 14 years of age. Our paediatric team is led by a well experienced paediatrician, who has gained reputation for not only providing excellent medical care to children but also for her exemplary patience and empathy towards the children and their parents alike. Our Paediatric Outpatient Department (OPD) offers a wide array of services including general health check-up for children, growth monitoring, developmental assessment as well as a well-baby clinic. We also have the availability of both government supplied free vaccines and CDC and WHO recommended optional vaccines for children.

Nepal Mediciti has a dedicated paediatric physiotherapist, a dietician and a facility for hearing evaluation for children. Children who benefit from these services are referred to the specialists by the paediatricians after assessment in the paediatric OPD. In addition to the general paediatric clinic, we also have paediatric cardiology clinic and a facility for pediatric echocardiography run by dedicated paediatric cardiologists. Outside the OPD hours, sick children presenting in the Emergency Room (ER) are also attended by pediatricians at any time of day or night.

The paediatric inpatient department includes general paediatric inpatient unit and a level 4 sophisticated Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). We are extremely proud to have a team of dedicated, experienced pediatricians who are available in house, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week taking care of the very vulnerable, sick children. Not only is our PICU equipped with the most advanced equipment but more importantly, has the benefit of round the clock support from multidisciplinary team of experts and well-trained nurses. In the PICU, we provide service for children between the age of 2 months to 14 years with life threatening critical illness, accidental injuries and poisoning, and those who have just undergone major surgeries including complex neurosurgeries and cardiac surgeries.

The department of Neonatology in Nepal Mediciti includes neonatal OPD, neonatal nursery and a fully equipped level 4 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The team is led by a neonatologist with more than 10 years of experience in caring for very sick and preterm babies. We provide services through our well baby clinic, high risk newborn follow up clinic, childhood immunizations, and prenatal counselling for high risk and complicated pregnancies to name a few. Our level 4 NICU is well equipped both in terms of machinery and technical knowhow to take care of extremely preterm and very sick newborns with a human touch. With the help of our conscientious team of dedicated nurses, doctors and physiotherapists, our NICU is proud to have successfully looked after babies born as early as 24 weeks (5 ½ months) of gestation and as small as just 670 grams at birth. Nepal Mediciti also has the facility and team of experts to carry out surgeries, including cardiac and neurosurgeries on newborn babies. A paediatrician is always present in the delivery room in our hospital to care for the babies as soon as they are born.
