Dr. Amar Narayan Shrestha is an experienced Clinical Hematologist with extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of both benign and malignant blood disorders. He completed his MBBS from the University of Science and Technology Chittagong, Bangladesh, followed by an MD in Pathology from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Kathmandu. He further pursued a Fellowship in Clinical Hematology at The Ganga Ram Institute for Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (GRIPMER), New Delhi, India.
With over two decades of medical experience, Dr. Shrestha has served in various clinical, academic, and leadership roles. He worked at Shree Birendra Hospital / Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences for many years, where he served as a Medical Officer, Consultant Pathologist, and later as a Clinical Hematologist managing complex hematological conditions including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. His clinical expertise includes bone marrow aspiration and biopsy procedures, chemotherapy administration for blood cancers, and comprehensive evaluation and management of hematological disorders.
Dr. Shrestha has also contributed significantly to medical education and training. As an Associate Professor affiliated with Tribhuvan University, he has been actively involved in teaching undergraduate MBBS students and postgraduate residents in medicine and pathology, conducting lectures, clinical rounds, academic discussions, and mentoring trainees in hematology practices.
In addition to his clinical and academic contributions, Dr. Shrestha has international experience through United Nations medical missions in Congo, Haiti, and Syria/Israel, where he served as a medical officer and mission medical director, coordinating medical care, evacuation planning, and healthcare logistics.
