Dr. Ayushma Shah is an experienced psychiatrist currently working at Nepal Mediciti. She earned her MBBS from Nepalgunj Medical College (Kathmandu University) in 2012 and her MD in Psychiatry from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences) in 2023, where she was honored as a University Gold Medalist. Dr. Shah is also a Level 1 certified specialist in TEAM-CBT, reflecting her commitment to advanced therapeutic approaches.
With over 12 years of service in the Nepali Army Medical Corps, Dr. Shah brings a wealth of experience to her role. Her previous positions include serving as a consultant psychiatrist at Shree Birendra Hospital, Lecturer at the Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences, Resident Doctor in the Psychiatry Department at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and a Medical Officer, including roles with United Nations peacekeeping missions in Africa.
Dr. Shah excels in public speaking, effectively delivering mental health awareness sessions, training programs, and professional presentations. She is known for her empathy and diligence, enabling her to build strong therapeutic relationships while maintaining high standards of clinical care. She has high interest and experience in treating various psychiatric illness such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, dementia as well as those relating to child and adolescent psychiatric illness. Dr. Shah has also contributed to the field through research and publications, earning recognition through awards such as the Sigmund Freud Gold Medal and the Laxmi-Shanti Award.
