Dr. Dikshya Joshi is Nepal’s first female cardiac surgeon with nearly 15 years of specialized experience in both adult and congenital cardiac surgery. Currently serving as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Nepal Mediciti, Dr. Joshi is widely recognized for her advanced surgical expertise, innovative cardiac procedures, and compassionate patient-centered care.
Dr. Joshi completed her MBBS and Master’s degree in Cardiothoracic Surgery from Tianjin Medical University, China, graduating at the top of her class. She further expanded her skillset by earning a prestigious Fellowship in ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) from Seoul National University, South Korea. In addition, she completed the Epidemiology for Global Health Program at the University of Washington, strengthening her understanding of global health challenges related to cardiac care.
With a strong commitment to advancing cardiothoracic surgery in Nepal, Dr. Joshi has pioneered innovative initiatives such as the mobile PT-INR clinics, which have dramatically improved access to cardiac care services in rural and underserved communities. Her clinical excellence and leadership have made her a trusted expert in complex cardiac surgeries and postoperative care.
In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Joshi is an active academic researcher and surgical educator. She has presented her research at numerous international medical conferences, earning multiple Best Paper Presentation Awards for her contributions to cardiac surgery. Dr. Joshi also holds prominent leadership positions in several national and international cardiac surgery societies, where she advocates for surgical excellence and the empowerment of women in medicine.
