Dr. Rajiv Mishra is a Junior Consultant in the General and Digestive Diseases Department at Nepal Mediciti, known for his expertise in gastrointestinal surgery and general surgical care. He completed his NBMS-SS in Gastrointestinal Surgery from Nepal Mediciti, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Bir Hospital (NAMS), and earned his MBBS from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS). His extensive academic training has equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality surgical care.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Mishra’s research includes critical investigations into surgical outcomes. His thesis examined the impact of Body Mass Index (BMI) on morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing emergency abdominal surgeries, as well as the use of the gallbladder infundibulum as a reliable landmark for ductal identification during laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the Nepali population. These studies emphasize his focus on improving patient safety and surgical precision.
Dr. Mishra has made valuable contributions to medical literature through his published research. His article titled “The Role of Laparoscopy in Bowel Obstruction: A Retrospective Study at a Tertiary Care Hospital” was featured in Magna Scientia Advanced Research and Reviews, highlighting minimally invasive approaches in gastrointestinal surgery. Additionally, he authored a case report on Primary Leiomyosarcoma of the Left Colon published in the Nepal Mediciti Medical Journal, demonstrating his expertise in diagnosing and managing rare gastrointestinal tumors.
Professionally, Dr. Mishra has held several key leadership roles. He served as the Head of the Department of Surgery at Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, where he managed a wide range of surgical cases and led the surgical team. He also worked as a Consultant General Surgeon at Chhinnamastta Hospital, delivering essential surgical care in a resource-limited setting.
