Dr. Sumit Acharya is a Consultant Nephrologist and Renal Transplant Physician with more than 10 years of post-graduate experience in nephrology and kidney transplantation. He completed his MBBS from Kathmandu Medical College & Teaching Hospital, and later pursued FCPS in Nephrology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan. He further strengthened his expertise through a Fellowship in Advanced Renal Transplantation at Manchester Royal Infirmary, United Kingdom, under the Royal College of Physicians London through the ISN International Training Fellowship.
Dr. Acharya has extensive experience in the management of complex kidney diseases and renal transplantation, with special interest in renal transplantation, chronic kidney disease, renal critical care, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), plasmapheresis, and renal biopsy. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in kidney transplant programs in Nepal and internationally, contributing to a large number of successful transplant procedures including live donor, high-risk, pair exchange, deceased donor, and ABO-incompatible renal transplants.
Dr. Acharya has authored and co-authored multiple national and international scientific publications and regularly participates in international conferences, research activities, and academic collaborations related to nephrology and organ transplantation. He is also affiliated with several professional organizations including the Nepal Society of Nephrology, Nepal Medical Association, Society of Internal Medicine of Nepal, International Society of Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Transplantation, and the Nepalese Society of Organ Transplantation, reflecting his strong commitment to advancing kidney care and improving patient outcomes.
