Overview

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is capable of reducing patient expenses, by ensuring lesser days of stay in the hospital, thus reducing chances of nosocomial infections to a great extent. For hospitals, it ensures that ALOS is brought down, which is a major quality indicator.
Over the years, modern Science and Medicine have suggested that Nutrition and dietetics plays a very crucial role in the recovery of a hospitalized person. It aids in a faster recovery of a convalescing patient after surgical or medical management is executed.
A Clinical Nutritionist does an accurate therapeutic nutritional analysis of the patient to target the nutritional deficiency which may have been caused because of illness or trauma and then prescribes a customized nutritionally balanced diet to help in the speedy recovery of the patient.
A Clinical Nutritionist also counsels and motivates healthy people to have lifestyle issues such as Obesity Underweight or even Malnutrition by prescribing diet as per the BMI index Sex Age and Height.
